Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has claimed ownership of the $50million found in a Lagos apartment by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).  Addressing journalists at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday night, Wike said: “The money in question belongs to the former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. We want to confirm that the houses in Ikoyi also belong to Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. “If you recollect in 2015, we said that gas turbines built by Former Governor Peter Odili were sold to Sahara Energy, business partners of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi at $319million. “That money was used to sponsor the All Progressives Congress for the 2015 general elections. From the date of sale of the gas turbines to May 29, 2015, the money depleted from $319million to $204,000. Aside the grand finale of big brother naija, the next thing that trended over the weekend was JAMB. First, it was the  impromptu postponement of the mock examination  which was supposed to hold last Saturday April 8th, 2017. Just few hours after that, JAMB announced the extension of the  2017 UTME registration deadline as well as the postponement of the JAMB examination. It will be recalled that JAMB was earlier adamant concerning the extension of the registration deadline even after the House of Representative gave a directive on that. Obviously, JAMB never expected what was coming and was not adequately prepared for it.  It is good to know that JAMB was able to make provision for the mock examination which I believe now was more of testing its preparedness for the examination than giving candidates a feel of what JAMB CBT is all about. Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has fulfilled his pledge to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who challenged him to disclose how his security votes and local council funds in the state are being spent. The governor yesterday made public details of his salary and the expenditures of his government since assumption of office. He said the disclosure of how funds are being disbursed by public office holders would promote accountability and good governance. El-Rufai and Dogara at the weekend traded words over the anti-corruption crusade and lack of accountability in governance. They challenged each other to publish their expenditures.
