Flight Ban: NCAA To Conduct Comprehensive Audit Of Med-View Airlines Operations

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that it will carry out an immediate audit of the operations of the distressed carrier, Med-View Airlines. The announcement was made in a statement signed by Mr. Sam Adurogboye, NCAA’s General Manager (Public Affairs). According to the statement, an operations audit has become necessary following last week’s report of European Commission (EC), which listed the airline among 181 carriers  banned from the European airspace . The NCAA said that the outcome of the audit will determine steps to be taken by the regulatory body and its interaction with the EU over the listing of Med-View. In addition, the statement explained that the audit is aimed at arriving at a resolution as well as getting the ban on the airline lifted. However, the management of the airline continues to insist that the EC ban has no effect on Med-View flights to the United Kingdom, as the aircraft that invited the ban, a Boeing 767, has been undergoing ma

Nigerians Support Fight Against Corruption As EFCC Holds Anti-Corruption March

Nigerians across the country rallied against corruption on Tuesday during the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s anti-corruption march, led by Acting Chairman Ibrahim Magu. The anti-graft agency hosted the walk in order to raise awareness of the EFCC’s fight against corruption. Speaking in Lagos, EFCC Acting Head of Operations Mohammed Rabo described the walk as a way of showing the world that the agency and country will not give up on the fight against corruption. Mr. Rabo added that though corruption is fighting back, the agency is also recording success in its bid to eradicate corruption in Nigeria. “This is a fight we shall fight to the end. It is a fight for everybody and the nation and we shall not stop. Corruption is the highest evil in the nation and we shall continue to fight and not get tired. “Corruption is fighting back seriously, but we are giving it punches and we shall show that we are equal to the task,” he told a crowd in Lagos. Lagos Democratic Forum Challenges Tinubu's No Election Primary Directive

The Lagos Democratic Forum (LDF) has condemned what it described as the ongoing desecration of democratic ethos in the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a press statement signed by Chief Kunle Dada and Comrade Wale Andyright, the group's Coordinator and General Secretary, respectively, the Forum observed that Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s 'directive' given to the party rank-and-file to jettison party primaries for the forthcoming local government elections in the state is undemocratic and contradicts the APC’s constitution and values. "What Asiwaju Tinubu is doing to the Lagos APC is unfortunate. APC, as a progressive party, is supposed to model the  grundnorm  of democracy, yet one of the basic requirements of that  grundnorm  is internal democracy. Candidates of the party must emerge as the popular choices of all registered and qualified members of the party, voting freely," the LDF wrote in its statement. At a meeting of local governme
