The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has announced that registration for the General Certificate Examination (GCE) 2017 for private candidates starts on Friday, 28th April. This was disclosed via the examination body official tweeter handle, @waecnigeria. It reads: “This is to inform intending candidates for the WASSCE for private candidates 2017 that registration begins on Friday this week. “Candidates are expected to pay a registration fee of thirteen thousand, nine hundred fifty naira N13,950 at any of the approved bank or any accredited agents to obtain the registration pin and information VCD. “Normal registration period is from Friday April 28 to June 28. Aside the grand finale of big brother naija, the next thing that trended over the weekend was JAMB. First, it was the  impromptu postponement of the mock examination  which was supposed to hold last Saturday April 8th, 2017. Just few hours after that, JAMB announced the extension of the  2017 UTME registration deadline as well as the postponement of the JAMB examination. It will be recalled that JAMB was earlier adamant concerning the extension of the registration deadline even after the House of Representative gave a directive on that. Obviously, JAMB never expected what was coming and was not adequately prepared for it.  It is good to know that JAMB was able to make provision for the mock examination which I believe now was more of testing its preparedness for the examination than giving candidates a feel of what JAMB CBT is all about. But according to new research, it could be because you’ve been surrounded by lazy people in the first place. Psychologists from the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research have found that laziness is catching, as we tend to adjust to fit in with those around us. The same goes for impatience and prudence, too. The researchers, Marie Devaine and Jean Daunizeau, said their study contributes to previous findings that people don’t tend to have fixed character traits, but follow the habits of others. In the study, 56 participants were set tasks involving effort (to analyse laziness), risks (prudence) and delay (impatience). Nicknamed “the Wonder Twins,” Peter and Paula are Great Britain’s current highest achievers. At 9-years-old they made history as the youngest children in British history to attend high school.
