NEC Meeting: 7 Things State Governors Discussed With Osinbajo

Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo presided over the monthly National Economic Council (NEC) meeting; as well as the Presidential Task Force on Polio Eradication on Thursday.

The meeting was held at the Presidential villa, Abuja.

The following are highlights from the NEC Meeting:

1. Development of Natural Resources and Ecological Funds.

2. Updates on the disbursement of the Paris Club refunds.

3. Update on the Balance in the Excess Crude Account as at April 26, 2017, which stands at US$2.2billion.

4. Updates on the progress of four of the Social Investment Programmes of this Administration- N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer, Homegrown School Feeding Programme and the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), for micro –credits.

5. Update on the Meningitis Outbreak and Government Response. 

6. Updates on the security situation in the country.

7. Governors of Nigeria’s 36 states formed a committee to audit the country’s Ecological Fund.

We Don’t Know The Real Age of Nigerian Players - Rohr

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has admitted he is not comfortable with the age factor of players based in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). Rohr revealed that it is the reason he hardly invites them to the national team. “There is an existing problem with Nigeria based players. We cannot tell their real age,” he said in an interview with Brila FM. Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa was the only home-based player invited by Rohr, for the recent games against Algeria and Senegal. The former Gabon and Burkina Faso coach, has however stated that the door is not closed on the best players in the NPFL.

Comedian Basketmouth robbed in his Lekki home

Basketmouth Famous Nigerian stand-up comedian, Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth and his family were in the early hours of this morning robbed at their Lekki home at gunpoint. His close friend and colleague, comedian Bovi took to his Instagram page to say that Basketmouth and family are safe and unhurt after the robber’s invasion. According to Bovi, the bandits carted away valuables and the security footage. See his post below:
