It's only a week into the new Premier League season but not every club has a fully fit squad, with a number of sides actually missing important players.
Here's a look at a Premier League XI made up of those currently sidelined because of injury.
1. Hugo Lloris
Injury: Hamstring
Expected Return: September
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris lasted just 35 minutes of Tottenham's opening game of the season before suffering a hamstring problem. He was replaced by understudy Michel Vorm and will be out of action for the next four weeks.
2. Kurt Zouma
Injury: Knee
Expected Return: December
Kurt Zouma had arguably been Chelsea's best defender in what was a very tough season for the club in 2015/16 until a knee injury ended his campaign in January. It came after an innocuous landing and ruled the young Frenchman out until the end of the calendar year.
3. Vincent Kompany
Injury: Thigh; Groin
Expected Return: September/October
Vincent Kompany underwent surgery in May after his latest setback with persistent muscle issues. It ruled him out of Euro 2016 with Belgium and has forced the influential skipper to miss pre-season and the start of the new campaign under Pep Guardiola.
4. Per Mertesacker
Injury: Knee
Expected Return: December
Per Mertesacker was recently named Arsenal captain following the summer exit of Mikel Arteta. But the giant German won't actually be wearing the armband for the Gunners until December at the earliest after suffering a knee injury in July that required surgery.
5. Aaron Cresswell
Injury: Knee
Expected Return: November/December
West Ham were forced to urgently move for a new left-back in the transfer market after Aaron Cresswell was ruled out for four months with a knee injury after a pre-season game in July. The former Ipswich star isn't likely to be seen until late November or early December.
6. Ilkay Gundogan
Injury: Knee
Expected Back: September
Ilkay Gundogan arrived at Manchester City in June having recently suffered a dislocated knee-cap. The German international has a history of various injuries dating back several years and City fans will be desperately hoping this is the last of his serious problems.
7. Muhamed Besic
Injury: Knee
Expected Back: February
Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic sustained his long-term knee ligament injury after making a challenge on Morgan Schneiderlin during Wayne Rooney's Manchester United testimonial game. The Bosnian will now cruelly miss the chance to impress new boss Ronald Koeman.
8. Sebastian Larsson
Injury: Knee
Expected Back: February
A mainstay of the Sunderland team for most of the last five seasons, Swedish midfielder Sebastian Larsson won't be playing again until well into the new year after injuring medial knee ligaments during pre-season training earlier this month.
9. Manuel Lanzini
Injury: Knee
Expected Back: September
Injury cruelly denied West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini the opportunity to take part in the Olympics for Argentina this summer. He returned to London for treatment and is now on course to return to action next month after briefly being consigned to a knee brace.
10. Andre Ayew
Injury: Thigh
Expected Back: January
Within days of becoming West Ham's most expensive player of all time and making his debut for his new club, Andre Ayew was left needing surgery to fix a thigh problem. No return date is known just yet, but the Ghanaian is unlikely to play again before the end of 2016.
11. Danny Welbeck
Injury: Knee
Expected Back: February
Injury had prevented Danny Welbeck from making his first appearance of last season until February. But when he was back in the team, the Arsenal forward looked sharp and eager to make up for lost time. It was therefore even more cruel when, in May, he suffered a knee injury that subsequently ruled out him out for another nine months.
