A Second Republic House of Representatives member and northern leader, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has alleged that some Igbo elders are blackmailing President Muhammadu Buhari to hand over to them in 2019. Mohammed said such plot will never work as he is against the regional zoning, adding that what happened when the north “stupidly handed over power through former President Olusegun Obasanjo to Goodluck Jonathan” will not repeat itself. Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has stated that the 3-man Presidential panel will probe Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engineer Babachir Lawal, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Mr. Ayo Oke, in secret to avoid speculations. This was made known in statement released by Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Saturday. Kehinde Durojaiye is a 46-year old Nigerian man who created a ‘jet car’ that can run on land and sea. Speaking with CNN about his invention achieving two out of his three goals – of land and sea travel – Kehinde said: “I tested it in the sea and a lot of people were surprised it can move on the land and sea. That’s one of those things that amazes people.” Kehinde has made four prototype cars from upcycled materials like discarded wood and plastic, and spends hours refining them – hoping that one day he will finally make it fly”. He told CNN that he has traveled 84 miles from Lagos to Ibadan in the jet car and claims it can move 120 kilometers per hour on land and at least six knots on the sea. Kehinde also admitted in the interview that his ultimate goal is to build a machine that can move on land, on sea, in the air and perhaps travel underwater.

A plane belonging to Dana Air heading to PortHarcourt lost one of its engines mid-air on Friday, forcing it to make emergency landing at the Murtala Muhammed airport in Lagos. The development comes less than 24 hours after aircraft belonging to Air Peace collided at the Lagos airport. The airline said bird strike was responsible for the incident which left hundreds of its passengers stranded. Bird strike is a collision between a bird and an aircraft which is airborne. In a statement, Kingsley Ezenwa, spokesman of airline, said the safety of passengers remained the major priority of Dana Air. He revealed that engineers were checking the aircraft to ascertain whether to completely change the engine or remove some blades. “On 21st of April, one of our aircraft with registration number 5N-SRI operating our 11am flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt, had an air return due bird strike during take-off from Lagos,” he said. “Our captain took a professional decision and returned...
